Long Bio
Born in Leeds to a white father and a black mother from apartheid South Africa, then raised in Zimbabwe and converted to Islam while studying at university in the UK, and having lived for ten years in Egypt, Na'ima B. Robert has some interesting stories to tell.
A mother to five children, she crafted a career as an author, specialising in diverse and multicultural children's books, as well as novels for young people and a groundbreaking memoir.
She founded SISTERS, the magazine for fabulous Muslim women in 2007 and went on to publish for ten years, touching the lives of thousands of readers and launching the careers of dozens of writers.
In a tragic turn of events, she lost her first husband of 15 years and became, all at once, a widow and the CEO of a company of 300 staff.
She credits this experience with the expansion and growth she has since experienced as a woman, as a mother, as an entrepreneur and public figure.
Having travelled the world addressing a variety of audiences and indulging her love for new experiences, Na'ima continues to intrigue and inspire.
As an outgoing, successful, confident, adventurous veiled Muslim woman, she shatters stereotypes wherever she goes and encourages audiences to address their preconceptions, strip away their prejudices and open themselves up to a transformational experience.
Na'ima's signature style has evolved over the years: she has a unique ability to command attention from the stage and connect with women and men of all ages and from different backgrounds, with her blend of honesty, vulnerability, strength and humour.

I have had the honour to be on tour with Na’ima B. Robert and all I can say is "Masha’Allaah Tabbarak Allaah WOW!".
She’s an amazing speaker as she speaks from the heart yet is very articulate and eloquent in how she presents her talks.
If you have not heard her speak live don’t miss it: you will walk away with reflections and a new attitude.
Zohra Sarwari
International Speaker, US
Sister Na’ima is a captivating speaker who engages younger and older women alike. Her reminders are embodied by ‘real talk’ allowing Muslim women of all backgrounds to relate while pushing through their God given trials.
Her interactive approach encourages her audience to participate in thought provoking discussions on key issues.
She urges her audience to push through their trials and to embrace them as part of their journey and ultimate legacy.
Having Sister Na’ima grace our event with her presence was beneficial for our charitable audience and our cause.

There was not a moment at our event where you didn’t want to hear what she had to say and engage with what she asked you to do.
She had the audience captivated, bubbling, laughing and reflecting and most importantly, the audience shouting ’STEP UP’ which was the theme of the day.
Na'ima is a natural born speaker, influencer and crowd motivator.
I would not hesitate to call on her again for future events and I’m so happy to see her progress in this area which only complements her and her many talents.

What are hosts saying about Na'ima B. Robert?
"I had the honor of leading an incredibly successful UK tour with Na'ima B. Robert. At every event, Na'ima gave 200%+ with fresh zeal and ammo each time. The audiences varied in size from 80-400 in some cases but she always managed to captivate the audience with her awesome signature story-telling, dominating the stage and capturing the attention of all attendees. Her dynamic, adaptable style shone through whether we were delivering assemblies in schools or in a large banqueting hall. MashaAllah, much of our fundraising success was down to her enthusiasm and the emotional connection she established with all attendees and, in 1 week, we raised over £350K.
In a time when the Muslim community is portrayed negatively, it is refreshing to have someone as eloquent as Na'ima speak so confidently to audiences. She boldly challenges the perceptions of Muslim women , with a voice that is loud, strong and most importantly - creative.
Mohammed Ali
Creative Director, ILM Arts Festival
Na'ima is a POWERHOUSE of a writer, speaker and all-round role model. She's delivered almost 100 events in classrooms around the country as part of Pop Up Festival (a national schools literature festival), and teachers and pupils are universal in wanting her back. She's one of our very best author-educators (and we work with 100s of writers and illustrators) - and also an inspired teacher of teachers.
Dylan Calder
Director, Pop Up Projects
Na'ima had a big impact on everyone who attended our event. She captured everyone’s attention and gave some thought provoking advice. I’ve heard from so many people that they loved the event she spoke at and we all agreed that fighting for her to speak at the event was a really great choice!
