You’ve been put in charge of your school! Which new subjects will the children study? Which subjects are banned? Will you change the rules? If so, what will the new rules be?
Describe a memorable day in Ramadhan: what happened? Pay particular attention to what you experienced with your senses: what you did, what you saw, what you tasted or smelt, how you felt…
Choose your favourite character from a book you’ve read and write him/her a letter, telling them how much you enjoyed their story and why.
Interview your grandparents about life when they were young. Ask them about their home life, school, what they did for fun, the clothes they wore, language they used and whatever else you like. Then write an essay, comparing your life to theirs.
Yusuf actually got a bit of a kick out of it! We especially enjoyed the tips at the end. We’ve just covered adjectives not so long ago and he was now able to put that to use. We are challenging ourselves to not only use better words for these prompts but also when we speak to each other.

The prompts are interesting and fun and there are a lot of new ideas. The tips are helpful as they show ways to improve writing and bring it to a higher level.

When you said he should add spice to his writing, it really resonated with him as he loves to cook and eat. I also love the variety of prompts as well as the Islamic references eg, Ramadaan or Prophet Muhammad (saw), it serves as a great reminder to me as his educator to bring that in more often.
